American Exceptionalism:

We must realize that American Exceptionalism depends on a strong and robust economy, which means that the fight begins here at home. If we are serious about fixing our economy, then we must get back to basics. First, our tax code must be redefined. I support transitioning from the progressive tax to a flat tax system- both individual and corporate/business. Second, we must understand that the true strength of our economy lies within small businesses, and elected leaders in Congress must have an obligation to support small business growth through tax cuts and incentives. Finally we need to challenge the status quo in Washington and stop the floodgates of government spending. In the last two years alone, Democrats have quadrupled the deficit, thanks in large part to the failed stimulus package. Factoring in the recent passage of the healthcare bill, the deficit is projected to increase by $9.3 trillion over the next decade.

Peace Through Strength:

The Preamble of the Constitution of the United States defines the Federal Government’s role in “providing for the common defense” of our great country. It is not only the primary mission of our government, but the most important obligation our elected leaders have upon accepting the oath of office. Make no mistake, we are a nation at war against a totalitarian theocratic political ideology that glorifies death rather than celebrating life. To defeat it, we must stay on the offensive. From Afghanistan and Iraq to the Greater Middle East and South America, radical Islam is on the march. And while our attention is focused on combating global terrorism, we must not forget other looming threats just on the horizon in China, North Korea, Venezuela, Russia & Iran. These nations and their leaders represent the biggest threat to our great nation. We must reestablish American Exceptionalism by growing and modernizing America’s Armed forces to ensure that we are prepared for the strategic challenges ahead. Like President Reagan, I believe that peace is best kept through a strong national defense.

Illegal Immigration:

The Constitution of the United States of America has these three mandates; ensure domestic tranquility, promote the general welfare, and provide for the common defense. All three of these directives relate to the issue of illegal immigration, as illegal immigration adversely affects our economy, jobs, national security, crime levels, education, and healthcare. Illegal immigration also allows human traffickers, drug runners, and Islamic terrorists to exploiting our porous border. Quite simply, federal laws already on the books aimed at stopping the flow of illegal immigration must be enforced. Furthermore, states must be given the resources necessary to confront the problem, which includes strengthening the border patrol. When dealing with illegal immigration, the answer is simple; enforce Constitutional mandates, and you will protect the American people.

Social Security:

The critical aspect of social security is that we must restore it to the independent trust fund account. Once the politicians moved it to the general operating account they used it for their pork barrel spending spree. The fact that we are creating a jobless morass in America means there are less workers paying into the system. This is another reason why we need private sector growth, which in turn creates jobs, which will replenish the Social Security fund.

Energy Independence:

Energy Independence is critical for the future and legacy of our great country. In the late 1970s we were importing some 18-20% of our energy resources. Today we are importing close to 65% of our energy resources from foreign sources. Due to this increased reliance on foreign energy supplies, terrorists have found a great source of funding through “petro-dollars” emanating from Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and Libya.

Now is the time to make America energy-independent by encouraging the indomitable spirit of American ingenuity and developing our full spectrum of energy resources. That means that we must invest in oil, natural gas, clean coal, nuclear, hydrogen, cost-effective bio-fuels, wind, and solar (research, exploration, refinement, and development). America must look at energy independence much the same as having a diversified investment portfolio built upon the solid foundation of proven methods in both energy extraction and economic development.

Israel:

Recent developments in the Israel are disturbing, and unfortunately predictable. Since 2009, the Obama Administration has shown an unprecedented disregard for the sovereignty of the State of Israel – America’s strongest ally. Whether browbeating Israel for building homes in their rightful capitol, or disrespecting Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House, President Obama has clearly demonstrated that he is no friend of the Jewish State. Liberals in Congress have provided nothing but lip service while the rest of the world continues to condemn this nation’s right to defend itself against continued terror and aggression by Hamas – a terror organization whose very charter calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and its supporters. In the days and weeks ahead, our friends in Israel, the only true and stable democracy in the Middle East, need more than words from America’s leaders. Above all, the Jewish State needs stronger representation in Congress that will not be afraid to stand up to the Obama Administration’s appeasement of Islamic terrorism. As a combat veteran who has faced our common enemy, my commitment to Israel will rise above mere statements of support.

Putting Money Back into the Pockets of Americans:

It is a proven fact that where taxation is lightest and spending is reduced, revenues increase. The 2010 mid-term elections come down to two diametrically opposing philosophies: public sector raising taxes, printing and borrowing more money or private sector investment, ingenuity, and innovation.

Note – Above is an edited account of statements made by a man who could be and should be President of the United States of America. Can you guess who made them?

Remarks by Curtis Wright
Cumberland County Republican Party Veteran’s Day Barbeque
Gillis Hill Farm, Fayetteville, North Carolina
November 13, 2011

They have come from the Coastal Plain, the hollers, the lake lands, the Mountains, and the Great Plains. They have come from our settlements, our villages, our towns, our great modern cities. They are our farmers, our shopkeepers, our managers and supervisors, our business owners, and even our Titans of Industry. They are our Grandparents, our Fathers and Mothers, our sisters and brothers and cousins.

When the call went out to the forests and wooden forts of our new Colonies, down through each generation, to the brownstones of our teaming cities, the call has been answered with consistent determination and courage.

When faced with starvation, disease and death, in the snows of Valley Forge, and the hope of a free and independent Nation seemed all but lost, they rallied, inspired and determined in unity, to overcome the temptations of the ‘Sunshine Patriot’ and ‘Summer Soldier’, to deliver the dream of that which is America.
When flung into battle and terror on far off beaches, and dropped into the fields, and forests of occupied territories, no matter the odds, or magnitude of the force, they met their enemies with valor, and even compassion, in ways never before seen in the annals of human warfare.

Over 124, 000 lay in hallowed fields and pastures in foreign lands, never to return home to the arms of their loved ones. Hundreds of thousands rest in peace, in the shadow of their Nation’s homeland, which, for their deeds, has thrived in historic tranquility.

They have returned home from the unspeakable terrors of War, from every corner of the Earth, to rebuild and renew our Nation, generation after generation. They have liberated, nurtured, comforted, inspired, and ensured Freedom, Liberty and Prosperity, in thousands of lands, for hundreds of millions of souls so yearning.

They have come in the time of crisis and need. They have stood, steadfast, as examples, in times of peace.

They are our American Patriots. They are our American Soldiers. They are our Americans Veterans.

This is their story, the unequaled history of a brotherhood of generations of Patriots: a story that we, as Americans, are called down through the ages to tell.

It is right. It is proper. It is our solemn duty.

For those who have given so much, sacrificed and served our nation so bravely and honorably, for those who continue to inspire us to greater good, and, those who have given their last full measure of devotion. It is the least we can do. It is the least that we must do.

President Kennedy said; “America’s Veterans have served this country with the belief that democracy and freedom are ideals to be upheld around the world….and, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

General Washington reminded our fledgling Nation that “the willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how just, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their Nation”.

During this special “Heroes Homecoming” week, we acknowledge, as a Nation, our past shortcomings. May we never again so dishonor our Veterans …those who were called, who served, who sacrificed, who laid down their lives as ordered, so honorably in the service of our Nation.

May we as American Citizens, and in particular, Republicans, honor our Veteran’s service, by honoring the principals and ideals of our unique American Nation, the principals and ideals of our unique American form of Government. Let us ‘Citizen Soldiers’ of the Republic, of our American Democratic heritage, fight just as courageously for that which was given and preserved for us, by the blood and sacrifice of our forefathers and Veterans.

We find ourselves, fellow Republicans, at another historic moment, another crossroads, in the life of our Nation.

We, yes we here, as American Republicans are called to come to the aid of the Republic. Once again, as Ronald Reagan said;

“Americans are hungry to feel a sense of mission and greatness.”
“Our people look for a cause to believe in. It is a Republican Party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors, which will make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?

A Republican Party that understands and believes it cannot be all things to all people. A Republican Party, he said, that must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

In his call to action, Ronald Reagan believed that he had not proposed anything that was, or is, contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. He believed, “at the same time, such was the very basis of Conservatism”. His call to action is as clear today as it was then: “It is time to reassert those
Republican, Conservative principles and raise them to full view”. And, I believe, as he believed, if there are those among us who cannot subscribe to these Republican, Conservative principles, then let them go their way.”
Let us, as Republicans, as Conservatives, as the Citizen Soldiers, in honor of our American forefathers and Veterans, once again, rise to the occasion, summon our political courage and will, light the way for this and yet unborn generations. Let it be said of us Conservative Republicans, when our time of service is through….when the call came, the call was answered, that we did our duty, we preserved the Republic here at home, we preserved our American principals and ideals, our American liberties and freedoms.

As the grateful recipients of the greatest gifts of Freedom and Liberty, gifts our Veterans have bestowed and preserved, may we always honor all our veterans, and all they have done for our Nation, by telling their story to our children, accepting their personal struggles of understanding their service, by keeping our promises of care, and honoring their sacrifices by always striving for Peace, here at home, and around the World.

Thank you, to all our Veterans here today. Thank you from a grateful grandson and son of Veterans. Thank you from a grateful Father. Thank you from a grateful Nation.

God Bless You, God Bless America and all her Patriots.

Curtis Wright

(please note that the grammar used above reflects the speech ‘as given’ by Curtis Wright)

THE ELEVENTH HOUR

For most Americans, today is Veterans Day, a day we give thanks to our veterans for their sacrifice and service. In Canada, the day is known as Remembrance Day – perhaps a better name for the day. At one time, the 11th of November was called Armistice Day. It was the day we celebrated the end of hostilities in the Great World War, “the war to end all wars” – World War 1. And at its conclusion, an armistice was signed and all warring parties agreed to a cessation of hostilities. A specific time and day was chosen in hopes that it would remind all nations of the futility of war. So, on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month in the year of Our Lord 1918, the war to end all wars came to an end.
However, evil was not to be defeated by the mere implication of a time and day. As most veterans know, war will never end as long as evil men try to eradicate freedom and impose their will on others. So, in 1954, after nearly a half-century of warfare, it was decided that Armistice Day would be known as Veterans Day. And it is good to honor individuals, who have stood in harms way on behalf of their Nation. We who have served, greatly appreciate it. And we too, give thanks to the generations of veterans who came before us and will continue on after us. However, it is not on the battlefield alone that we must stand defiant in face evil. Every day of our lives we have an obligation to insure that the liberties and freedoms that were purchased with the blood of patriots will endure forever.
Yes, for most Americans today is Veterans Day but for some veterans, the eleventh of November is an autumnal Memorial Day. It is a day to remember the fallen and a time to examine their own lives and to see if they have continued to meet their obligation to protect the Constitution and preserve the Republic; and if they have done so, in a manner worthy of those who sacrificed their lives defending the gates of freedom.

MSNBC's single-named expert on race Toure (one-word name) once again joined "The Last Word" to further his effort to delegitimize Herman Cain as a black man and black conservatives in general. Toure says Herman Cain did not handle the response to Politico's accusations of him in a "presidential way," much less a "professional way." "This is a major moment for the GOP," Toure says about a vulnerable Herman Cain. "Because Cain is a really important candidate, perhaps more important than any of the other candidates because he serves a massive psychological purpose." "There's a lot of people in the GOP who have been critical of Obama, and have been made to feel that they are racist, because of their criticism. Some of it has been racist, some of it's been reasonable, some of it has been business as usual Republican/Democrat stuff, okay. Cain comes along, offering salvation, liberation. You're not racist if you support Herman Cain. So now they have this 'Herman Cain card' they can throw at us any time they are made to feel racist. So this is like a beautiful thing for them. So they need him to succeed as long as they can deal with him so that they can get their Cain card and make it as valuable as possible," Toure told MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell. "But, of course this whole transaction is actually a canard," Toure finished. When asked in what way his campaign is a canard, Toure says Cain is "giving comfort to racism." "Herman Cain is giving comfort to racism the way that he purports himself as we've discussed before on this show. So, I mean, this is not the person that you can hold up and say 'See, I'm not a racist, I love Herman Cain,'" Toure told MSNBC.
