State Lawmaker Saw First Hand that Inland Natural Gas Drilling is a Job Creator

State Representative Mike Hager (R-Rutherford) had just returned from a trip to Pennsylvania for a tour of the exploration for natural gas with hydraulic fracturing of shale called “fracking.” He told a legislative committee he was pleased by what he saw and how the company was handling environmental impact. But most of all Hager said he was impressed by the amount of  jobs the new drilling had created. Click here to view the video on YouTube. There’s a good chance “fracking” will soon be coming to North Carolina. There is evidence there are big fields of shale containing natural gas in Lee, Moore and Chatham Counties. One company, Whitmar Exploration, is already talking to property owners in Lee County about leasing rights. An outside review of state regulations on “fracking” is also being conducted and a report should be ready in a couple of months.
